  1. This same machine just showed up at a thrift store in Kalispell, but not in as nice condition.

    1. Although mine looks like it's never been used, it's missing the reverse lever and I have yet to find a replacement part. Strange, as the rest of the machine is pristine. It's as if it has been surgically removed.

It's a solid machine, very smooth. I generally prefer the 158 series but this Soryu is one I recommend if the price is right! I got mine for free, so I guess that qualifies. :) Re. Kenmores, I'm so biased you could cut me up and use me for tape.

I just bought another 18023 with all the attachments, so I'm in Kenmore heaven for the next day or two. I couldn't resist that price, either. Time to blog, I suppose. :)

I hope you're well. Are you rested and relaxed? It's great to hear from you, especially that your vacation hasn't quenched your thirst for machines!

  2. Do you want me to see how much that machine is? This particular store never prices their sewing machines more than $10 apiece and they have a half price day on Thursday. We could cannibalize it for the reverse lever. :) I like the Kenmore I have but I am not quite the fanatic you are.

    1. If you can snag it for $5, I'd say yes, please! That's very generous of you to offer if it's not any trouble. I'd be happy to pay double or triple for your efforts, if you like. And if it's in a carry case, even better as I have Kenmores in tables I'd like to convert to cases whenever possible. Thanks very much, Janet -- very kind of you. :)

And remember that I can buy Seattle area machines for you, too. If you see one you'd like, just shoot me a request and I'll get right on it.
