      I really like this machine for its smoothness and quiet operation. From what you've written (Cordura, leather, etc.), I would recommend an industrial machine. This is a domestic and was intended for home sewing of wovens, knits, and other clothing and home decor materials. It sews garment weight leather but not a steady diet of vegetable tanned or upholstery grade leather. An industrial machine such as a Pfaff, Adler, Juki, Consew, Singer will give you much better results, will be faster, won't skip stitches, break needles, etc. The Phoenix is a great machine for domestic sewing but it's not industrial strength and I think you'd wind up very frustrated with it.

      I hope you find the right machine for what you need to do. I recommend a medium- to heavy-duty industrial with a .5 hp clutch or Servo in a power stand. Good luck!
