Singer 301 Two-Tone

This is one of those machines whose impulse to buy is based purely on price.  For $20 I was able to purchase a very good 301 in the grasscloth trapezoid case with bobbin box, pedal, original manual, and all from a lovely English lady who found it and wanted it to be used and loved. 

I'm not sure how much I'll use it but I have cleaned and run the machine and everything's to be expected of a venerable machine: sturdy, rigid, powerful, beautiful stitches, and in good shape overall.  Once oiled, it's smooth and surprisingly quiet.  I find this machine somewhat slower than my other 301 and I wonder if that's due to old oil or the need of a pedal replacement. 

At any rate, a great deal on a great machine.
